Yes, there have been many changes over the years regarding “Dental Insurance”, which is not actually insurance at all! Premiums have gone up and benefits have gone down for patients in today’s world and it’s becoming harder and harder to keep up with all the changes every year. How do we navigate through the day with a smile on our face when patients are checking in, telephones ringing, appointments needing to be made, insurance needing to be verified or complete breakdowns done, patients checking out, posting insurance payments that don’t make sense, trying to track down the patient that failed their appointment, sending statements, checking on insurance claims that have not been paid and the list goes on…………..           I believe that over the last 10-15 years we have lost touch with our patients because of all the tasks that need to be done every day. Have you created a relationship with the patient that makes them feel valued and appreciated so they trust you? Are you truly able to spend the time needed to educate the patient on the treatment that is needed? Are you able to make adequate financial arrangements that will benefit both the patient and the office? Are you able to schedule the patient while they are still in the office and not having to call them back? All these things add up to a and successful profitable practice.                   Our dentists are sympathetic with our frustrations and want to help however they are not quite sure what to do. There may not be a budget for hiring another employee, he/she may think that with a little extra over time you can get caught up or there may not be physical space in the office for another person. Employees are wonderful to have, and they are also expensive. There are many costs that are incurred when bringing a new employee on board. There are of course payroll taxes, paid holidays, paid vacations, continuing education costs, insurance, training, and this list goes on. A couple of years ago I was speaking with a dental CPA and he estimated that the cost of hiring a new employee, excluding their regular wage is approximately $8300.00 per employee annually!           Now, we obviously do need employees, we need someone to greet the patients, answer phones, present and schedule treatment however many things can be outsourced. This has not been as popular in the dental community as it has in other fields however it is coming to the forefront. Technology is big in our world today and some are people are better with it than others and we need to stay up on it or we will be lost.                This is where Outsourcing comes into play. We can log into the office computer and take care of many tasks such as insurance billing, payment posting, sending out statements, keeping track of claims that have not been paid and other things as well. Take a look at and evaluate your office, could you use some extra help? Would having someone that could take some of the pressure off of you help? If you would like more information about Outsourcing some of your tasks feel free to reach out.[/et_pb_fullwidth_code][/et_pb_section]
